Born in 1991, Kashmir, India, pursued BFA from IMFA, University of Jammu 2013 and MVA from Kala-Bhawan, Visva-Bharati Santiniketan, India (2015).

I hold Dual Masters in Painting/installation from Royal College of Art London (2019). After double graduation, I completed my Visiting artist fellowship from South Asian Mittal Institute, Harvard University (2020). Meanwhile I have been an artist in residence at Kochi-Muziris Biennale India (2018) and an artist in residence at AL-Balad, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia by MOC (2022). My works have been exhibited in solo and group shows in India and abroad.

Additionally, I have been a grantee of Charles Wallace British Council UK (2018-19), Shristi Art Grant India, Junior Fellow Ministry of Culture-GOI (2023), Art grant for Study Abroad (UMEED-NGO) Kashmir, India and have been featured in Al-Tiba9 Contemporary Art Magazine, Issue 10 (2022) and VAF Magazine, Mittal Institute, Harvard (2021).

I am a multidisciplinary artist. My aim is to explore how the arts and cultural traditions can be crafted to bridge differences, mediate conflicts, contribute to peace and what is it that artists can bring, especially to situations where lack of security, displacement, trauma, violence and sheer fatigue are dominant. My art practice evokes emotions and creates dialogues that have been drawn directly from my own experiences. In this zone of maximum hybridity, definitions fall flat. Through Installation, performance, video, painting and textile, I create fleeting and transitional experiences that suggests a space of play, reflections and drove conversations and understandings in many ways.
